Who pays the grant, and who does the work

Klima-Agence informs and calculates
It is the national agency for the energy transition. It advises free of charge, publishes the details of every scheme, and its calculator is what gives the up-to-date amounts and conditions.

The State and your municipality pay
National support is handled by the competent administration, under the Klimabonus framework. Many municipalities add their own support, with their own rules and forms: the municipal administration is the authority.

The right sequence
Four steps, and only one order that works
Order matters more than budget. Insulating first reduces what you will then have to produce: a heat pump fitted in a leaky house runs too hard, and a roof covered in panels does not warm an empty loft.

Take stock
Before choosing equipment, look at the home as a whole: envelope, heating, ventilation, generation. Energy advice is itself a supported item, and it is often what stops you fitting the right machine into the wrong house.

Get it costed
Without a costed quote you will not know what is left to pay, nor what the support applies to. Describe your project once: up to 6 companies reply, free of charge and without obligation.

Have the work done, in the right order
The envelope first, the equipment afterwards. Have the work done by a company in good standing in Luxembourg, and keep quotes, invoices, datasheets and photos: that is your file.

File the application
The application is filed with the competent administration, not with Wedo. The official calculator indicates the expected form and the contact.
Mind the order. Some schemes require a step to be taken before the work starts. Checking takes five minutes on the official calculator; a signature is irreversible.

Is your home more than twenty years old?
Then the envelope comes before the equipment. Start with an energy audit, then with what shows least: roof insulation and the walls. Everything else is sized afterwards, and sized better.
Do you still heat with oil or gas?
This is where replacement really comes into play. Three routes exist, and they do not ask the same of your plot: the heat-pump guide puts them side by side.
Do you drive electric, or are you about to?
Charging at home means having your own space and a sound electrical panel. The charging-point guide says what to have checked, and by whom.

We show no amounts on these pages, and that is deliberate: a copied scale becomes wrong without warning its reader. The official tool is updated at source; that is where amounts, ceilings and conditions are to be read.

For any figure and for filing an application, the official pages of Klima-Agence and of your municipal administration are what count.
Pre-financing
Not having to advance the subsidy
Pre-financing exists today for solar photovoltaic systems, with or without a domestic battery. The Klimabonus subsidy is then deducted directly from the final invoice by the installer, instead of being paid out later by the State.
You choose an installer listed in the register
The scheme only works with an installer entered in the register of installers eligible for pre-financing, kept up to date by the Ministry of the Economy. That is the first thing to check, before signing anything.
The installer files the application for you
The application for aid is filed by the installer on behalf of the beneficiary, not by you. On your side, you fill in a mandate form which the installer sends to the Ministry of the Economy.
The subsidy appears on the final invoice
The subsidy and every down payment already made must be clearly stated on the final invoice and deducted from the total. The down payment the installer may ask of you before that invoice is capped, and the cap is given on the official page.
Who can benefit. The beneficiary is the owner of the residential building, or the person holding immovable property rights on it. In a co-ownership, it is the managing agent or a co-owner appointed by the general meeting. A business whose activity requires a business permit is precluded.

Most support for the energy renovation of homes falls under the Klimabonus scheme, run by the State. Klima-Agence is its public contact point: it informs, advises free of charge and publishes the details of every measure. Many municipalities add their own support, with their own rules and forms. Wedo grants nothing: we explain the landscape and connect you with the companies that do the work, through the directory.
Because a copied amount goes wrong without warning. Scales, ceilings and conditions change, and a page that freezes them misleads its reader at the worst moment: the budget. We describe the schemes and the process, and we send you to the official Klima-Agence calculator for the figure.
It depends on the scheme. Some require documents gathered before the site starts: prior advice, a detailed quote, sometimes a technical study. Others are applied for once the work is finished, with invoices. It is the first thing to check on the official calculator, and it must be checked before signing a quote, not after.
In the vast majority of cases, yes. As long as heat escapes, any equipment installed compensates for a loss instead of covering a need, and it gets oversized. An energy audit is the safest starting point: it costs little, it is itself supported, and it prevents expensive mistakes.
