Massard

We are a foundry and a metalworking workshop.

The family business was founded in 1873 by brothers Henri and Jean Massard, both locksmiths.

Establishment of a metal construction workshop for the manufacture of mine wagons used primarily in the Luxembourg and Lorraine iron mines.

At the end of 1882, an iron foundry was added to the construction workshop. The first casting from the Massard-made cupola took place on October 15, 1883. Initially limited to manufacturing parts for mine wagons, the foundry activity increasingly focused on casting mechanical parts and Massard-brand road iron castings.

Between 1930 and 1960, existing facilities were regularly modernized, and the manufacturing program was adapted to market needs. Besides narrow-gauge railway equipment, emphasis was placed on the design and manufacture of concrete mixers, hoists, winches, etc., for the construction industry. The foundry program was expanded to include art and decorative castings.

Between 1982 and 1986, the old foundry was closed after the construction of a new unit equipped with high-performance melting and molding facilities.
In parallel, the construction workshop’s equipment was adapted to market requirements. 70% of the foundry production is exported to neighboring countries.

Today, the company’s management is handled by Serge WURTH, a direct descendant of the founders.

In our foundry, we produce cast iron for industry, as well as decorative cast iron and artificial bronze.
