G4S started its activities in 1971 in Luxembourg... The company was then called "Securitas - Société de Surveillance et de Sécurité".

By the early 1970s, all the ingredients for a security services integrator were already in place, with rapid and organic growth being achieved through a widespread trend towards outsourcing and specialization of these services.

When the Securitas group was split in 1981, Group 4 Securitas took control of the Luxembourg company. Nevertheless, it kept the name "Securitas S.A." to preserve its notoriety. In the early 1980s, Securitas acquired "Security Technology", which became "Securitas Technologies S.à.r.l.". The latter’s activity is the installation and management of alarm systems, while Securitas S.A. provides services such as security and the transport of valuables.

The merger of Group 4 Securitas and Falck in June 2000 marks a change in continuity for Group 4 in Luxembourg. The Group changed its brand name in 2004 to Group 4 Falck and announced a repositioning of its business. It is further strengthening its offer to individuals and public authorities. On this occasion, it also introduces the concept of safety throughout its product and service line and becomes the specialist in the safety of people and property.

In June 2004 Group 4 Falck merged with Securicor. The new group, now called Group 4 Securicor, changed its name in 2006.

Since 1 January 2009 Group 4 Securicor has become G4S. This name change is part of the brand’s repositioning, both globally and locally.

The group’s services are present throughout the Luxembourg economy, thanks to national coverage for all activities. G4S serves institutional, industrial, tertiary, SME, independent and private clients. For each of these groups an appropriate security solution is proposed.

G4S employs nearly 1200 people and is therefore one of the 30 largest employers in the Grand Duchy.

G4S has operational subsidiaries in more than 120 countries and employs more than 628,000 people.

G4S is the largest employer listed on the London Stock Exchange and is also listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange on a secondary basis.
