SPECIALIST OF DANGEROUS TREES
The profession of "climbing arborist" is relatively recent. It started to develop in the middle of the 1980s, thanks to a handful of professionals. They had discovered in Great Britain a new technique of tree maintenance by climbing and prospecting with ropes.
From then on, it became possible to apply pruning that was more respectful of the natural development of the trees.
Indeed, moving in the tree allows to work with more precision in the tree to the end of the branches.
The concept of "soft pruning", which specialists now prefer to call "reasoned pruning".
Working in trees is both very physical and highly technical.
Physical, because the arborist climber has to use his own muscular capacities to climb and move in these large trees. In addition, he needs a chainsaw or a saw for several hours.
The job is also very technical, because it requires very good knowledge in areas such as biology, physiology, mechanics for the maintenance of equipment, pruning and felling techniques, management of work sites and of course safety. Consequently, this profession can only be practiced by specialized professionals.
