From a small start-up, cegecom has become, in less than 20 years, a flourishing SME, firmly established in the Luxembourg economy, and one of the largest alternative and independent telecommunications providers in Luxembourg and the Greater Region. Here, divided into 4 chapters and 4 dates, is cegecom's success story.
1. 1999: a start-up is created
On 4 November 1999, cegecom was officially created. Founded following the liberalization of the telecommunications market, the new company was created from the historic Luxembourg group Enovos International. Very quickly, cegecom will establish itself as a leading player in the Luxembourg ICT landscape.
2. 2006: the artelis group was born
In 2006, cegecom joined forces with the Saarland-based telecommunications company VSE NET GmbH, which has been active in Germany since 1998, to create the artelis group. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of the two companies, with 160 employees and an annual turnover of more than €60 million, the artelis group has become the leading telecommunications group in the Greater Region.
3. 2014: cegecom obtains the Made in Luxembourg label
In July 2014, on the eve of celebrating its 15th anniversary, cegecom was awarded the Made in Luxembourg label, which recognizes Luxembourg know-how. This label represents a double recognition for our company. It not only reflects cegecom's contribution to the country's technological and digital development through its innovative products and services, but also rewards its active participation in promoting Luxembourg and its know-how to foreign companies.
4. 2017: a major shareholder takes over the helm
In January 2017, following the wish of Encevo International (formerly Enovos International) to sell all its shares, VSE AG increased its stake in the artelis group to 90%, the remaining 10% being held by the Franco-German Regional Bank SaarLB. This consolidation marks an important turning point for the future of cegecom.
Headquartered in Saarbrücken, the VSE AG group has some 1,500 employees and is very active in Germany in the fields of electricity, gas and water supply, telecommunications, energy and technical services, IT and commercial services, energy data and metering services.
