The best tips and tricks for painters

Published on 26 June 2018
When it comes to simple and affordable projects to beautify the living space, painting is at the top of the list. A new coat of paint on a wall or piece of furniture is like a new beginning! That's why we've compiled some tips, tricks and techniques that can be useful for your painting project.

Tips for an easy selection of colours for white lacquer

  • Before you start painting: Be sure to wipe the walls with a soap towel or a mixture of 3/4 water and 1/4 bleach to remove grease and other stains. These stains can prevent the paint from sticking!

  • Do you want a perfect finish for your walls? To remove brushstrokes and obtain a smooth finish, use a paint conditioner. And if your walls are in poor condition from the start, follow this advice and use a washable, flat paint to minimize imperfections.

  • When you are finished painting, do not let paint residue get lost. You can keep them or even give them away!

  • If you have to stop your painting project, put the rollers and paint brushes in a plastic bag (tightly closed) at night to keep them wet until morning.

  • Clean your brushes immediately. When you comb through the brush bristles, you can remove the remaining grease to keep them soft and flexible.

  • You want more than just a solid color? Try a model!

  • And don't forget to look up! Applying a dark shade to a ceiling can make it look higher, creating an illusion of infinity.

  • The same principle also applies to small decorations - painting the back of a bookcase adds class and depth to a room! (Paint the back of the library black to increase depth and drama)

  • If you want to add a touch of colour and character, paint your front door!

  • And of course, lime bleaching is a classic finishing technique - the same idea, only with white paint!

  • Working on furniture again? Try the chalk color for a beautiful finish!

  • Do you want to refresh an antique piece of furniture? Spray a canvas drip cloth and dab it on each chair!

  • You can also paint the curtain panels for an individual and inexpensive curtain style.

  • And what are you saying? How about a carpet? Yes, you can paint a carpet!
It's a big job, but painting your cabinets is a relatively inexpensive way to update a kitchen or bathroom! You can save thousands of dollars by refreshing your existing cabinets.

  • Use a tinted primer to provide dual color protection against dents and scratches.
