Tiled roofs:

Today we know a multitude of pitched roof materials, which are well suited for roofs and have proven themselves in the meantime.

Roof tiles are - also from a historical point of view - of particular importance. After the war, the widespread belief in plastics in architecture was a major problem for clay bricks. It is very gratifying that since the 1990s there has been a remarkable return of roofing materials based on natural raw materials.

Thus, the traditional roof tile has once again clearly gained ground over the concrete tile, which has been popular for a long time - and the trend is rising. Roof tiles are back in fashion, especially in private residential construction, and are playing an increasingly important role as a very popular roofing material.

Slate roofs

Slate is the classic natural roofing material for quality roofs. In Central Europe, the highest demands are placed on slate.
This applies not only to the material properties of approx. 4 to 6 mm thickness, but also to the choice of formats and lid types. Slate is characterised by a very long service life - we speak of "at least one generation" - and a particularly attractive appearance.

We prefer the elegant and technically demanding bridge type "Old German deck". That is known as the "queen of deck species". A slate roof of an old German roof is manufactured in detail and is one of the greatest achievements of the roofing trade. It is characteristic that the smaller roof tiles on the ridge and the larger roof tiles on the eaves - where the amount of water is greatest - are used. This makes the roof even more beautiful and higher.

Velux: the roof window specialist.

"VE" means ventilation, i.e. fresh air, "LUX" is the Latin word for light.

VELUX is a global company based on a vision of daylight, fresh air and quality of life - three characteristics that make life perfect in millions of homes around the world.

Today, more than 70 years after the installation of the first VELUX roof window in a Danish school, the vision of VELUX has evolved - but the values have remained the same. As the world's largest manufacturer of roof windows, VELUX today stands for light, air and a view in the attic and thus creates a better living climate and more quality of life under the roof.

In short: VELUX brings light into life.
