The different steps of SEO

The SEO strategy is becoming more and more important. We will introduce you to 8 steps to help you set up your SEO.

Step 1: the domain name

You must be careful with your domain name. Many people forget this step, which is however essential to get a good ranking at Google. Try to use an important keyword for your www… already for your company. This keyword should also appear in your source code and in meta-tags.


So try during this first step to check your domain name. If you consider it necessary you can reserve an additional relevant domain name.

Step 2: Be careful when choosing keywords

Even if the importance of keywords has decreased, it is still necessary to pay attention to their choice. This second step is therefore still essential. Try to choose exactly the keywords, which correspond to your website. This is certainly a challenge, since you must also think of related words, synonyms, a spelling variant,…

Step 3: The right title

This step is essential, as the title becomes more and more important. Always make sure that the 2-3 most important keywords appear in the title and the most important keyword must appear first. Do not write “Hello…” or other welcome phrases.

Thus companies with a known corporate name can put it first in their title. If, on the other hand, your company is not so well known, try using another relevant keyword.

Step 4: The good description

In the description, you must briefly explain the content of your site by limiting yourself to 2-3 relevant sentences. Use the most important keywords, but do not list them. You need whole sentences. Be careful at this step, as it is this sentence of description that normally appears in search results.

Step 5: Quality of your texts

Search engines will also analyze the text visible on your website. Therefore, pay attention to the quality of your texts by respecting various points:

  • Create categories and sub-categories with different titles
  • Keep sentences short
  • Make different paragraphs. No one wants to read a block of text without spaces
  • Publish current and interesting texts
  • You must make sure that your website is adapted to the interests of your visitors, but also to the search engine. The text will appear in the “body”.

Step 6: Optimize your titles for the search engine

Use H1 to H6 formats, and avoid any subsequent formatting. Indeed, H1 to H6 formats will be recognized as titles by search engines. If you format the titles manually, you extend the source code and increase the Bytes, which increases the loading time of the website. So make your life easier.

Step 7: Alternative images and texts

Don’t forget to insert images to make the page more lively. This step is important for the aesthetics of your page.

  • For the SEO strategy, images must be named, since search engines cannot yet define the thematic content of a graphic file. You must therefore give a relevant name to each image, we speak of alternative text (Alt Text). The latter will be analyzed by the search engine.

Step 8: Setting up return links 

As already mentioned once, it is also necessary to do an off-page optimization. What matters here are the return links. The more qualitative and well positioned websites refer to your website, the better it will be positioned by search engines. Indeed, an equivalence is made between the sharing of a link and an express recommendation in real life.
